FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ What's the difference between the brand guide and reviews?

The guide is a collection of profiles about brands we think you should know about. We'll include all sorts of information we hope is helpful, including a brand's sustainability efforts. Although we've become pretty well versed in what's out there, we're always discovering new brands and things we love. We'll keep on adding profiles and sharing what we discover with you.

Reviews mention the things Mamas love most about their favorite brands, why they love it and what styles or items they recommend. They also take a much closer look to evaluate things like how it fits, how it wears, how it washes and in what kind of shape it is to pass down.

If you think we need to check out a brand you can't find on meer guide, please always drop us a line here to tell us about them.

+ Do you get paid by the brands you feature?

Meer is not sponsored or paid by the brands, shops or people we feature on this site. We will always keep it that way to remain as authentic and honest as possible. All brands and products are independently selected by our editors. However, some of our retail links are affiliate links, so when you buy something through one of them, we may earn a small affiliate commission, at no cost to you.

+ How do you choose the brands you feature and review?

We started with a list of the brands we really liked and searched all sorts of great places to find ones we didn’t know about. With every survey answered, this list grows and we’re constantly discovering new brands.

Some of the reviews happened simply because enough Mamas told us about the same brands in their favorites. Deciding what brands to test after that is really based on how much we love it. We start with our favorites and go from there. In order for it to work it’s important whoever is testing loves what they are testing and wears it a lot, otherwise it’s not only wasteful, they really can’t review it properly. So we try to match the right people with the right brands.

We buy a lot of what we test ourselves. We also accept submissions from brands. It’s a good sign when a brand WANTS to be tested, but we always remain impartial no matter what. There is no pay for play at meer guide. If a brand sends in clothing to be tested by some of our Meer Mamas there are no promises made, besides an honest review will be given.

+ What's your review process?

When we started this, we wanted lots of opinions, so we sent out surveys to Mamas whose style we liked and thought would give us good feedback. It helped sort out what brands we needed more info on and then we started testing, and testing, and testing. Basically, we get a few pieces from a brand, take notes on important things like finish, quality, feel, sizing and how it comes packaged and then just start having our kids wear it. After a few months, we give each other honest reviews about the pieces. The most important questions we ask are how it wears and if you’d buy it again.

+ Who does the testing?

As word got out, our community of Mamas has grown (still waiting for you Dads). We now have dozens and dozens of Meer Mamas from all over the world, and all over the US, sending in surveys of their favorites and joining our tester groups. It’s pretty awesome and it’s only just beginning.

+ Do you test all brands before you review?

You won't see a review on Meer that hasn't come from a real parent who has actually had their kid(s) wear the brand they are reviewing, for an extended period of time. We don't write reviews based just on how cute or cool we think they are (although we usually do), we write reviews of brands we've actually worn and put through the test of time.

+ What's the deal with sustainability?

We wanted to find a way to make sustainability more transparent for you. Is a brand eco-friendly, a little sustainable, a lot sustainable, we consulted with some experts and compiled questions about what matters most to you. What our profiles are: a way to make the efforts brands are making in sustainability more transparent. What our profiles aren't: a way to shame brands for not being more eco-friendly or sustainable.

We want to celebrate all the efforts being made, big and small and tell you more about them, so you can make more informed decisions that work for you. Learn more about our sustainability mission.

Letter From the Editor

Welcome to Meer. Like many in the kidswear space, Meer was born not long after my son. I went from 15+ years as a busy fashion executive to channeling that energy into researching all things baby.

Before long I could recite the best strollers, bottles, pacifiers, swaddles, diapers, etc. My new mom checklist was legit, but I couldn’t find comprehensive reviews on quality kids clothing and definitely not focused on sustainable brands.

So I set out to create a useful resource for parents navigating those early months, toddler years and beyond. I started by talking to industry experts and like-minded Mamas to create a platform dedicated to sustainable kids fashion. Now, we have Meer Mamas from all over the world telling us about their favorite brands, telling us why and sharing it all with you.

Here, you’ll find guides to baby and kids brands, shops, collections, and the best of within styles. There will also be no shortage of solid recommendations, reviews and news of what’s happening in the kidswear world.

It’s been inspiring having so many parents reach out to say what we’re doing makes a difference. As with anything, it’s a work in progress. We try our best to pay attention, use feedback and continue to shift focus to what you tell us matters most to you.

Thanks for being here, thanks for caring about sustainability and please feel free to get in touch.
