We're Going to Italy with Tiny Cottons

The always playful Tiny Cottons is taking it a step further this season to fully celebrate the art of doing nothing. Well, childhood-summertime-doing-nothing, nothing. Those long summer days, filled with play, eating, laughing, exploring, nothing on your mind but your next adventure. Their SS20 collection is inspired by warm Italian summer days, the colors, landscapes and characters embody the Italian culture and this season’s slogan ‘Dolce Far Niente’ (sweet nothing).

The inspiration translates to beautiful shades of blue, green and terra-cotta, some lively fruits (strawberries and oranges), sun and clouds and some great striped prints that recall days spent on picnic blankets. They are all threaded together with this season’s narrators, a group of pups enjoying the lazy summer days too. One pup even makes multiple appearances with different hair styles inspired by favorite pasta dishes. I was slightly surprised not to see a print with dripping gelato cones, but maybe it would have been too close to last springs ice cream pots.

Although we’ll likely see this seasons theme in the most noticeable prints, I’m always a personal fan of their more subtle pieces in the collection, like the Retro Stripes Midi Skirt, Tie Front Top, Flowers Pleated Short and Check Jumpsuit. Regardless, the whole collection is making us crave those summer days and the season’s lookbook photos have us wanting to buy a ticket to Italy stat. tinycottons.com
