Eco-Friendly Shoe Brand Veja Collaborates With Hundred Pieces on Vegan Sneaker

This marks the third time Veja x Hundred Pieces have collaborated on an exclusive sneaker design. French brand Veja, known for their ecological shoes and production, have been making trainers since 2004. The V-10 VEGAN TRAINER is made with Veja’s revolutionary vegan ‘leather’. Instead of using plastic to make what’s commonly referred to as pleather, they use a CWL cotton (made from corn starch waste, a non-edible part of the plant). The corn waste is waxed onto a cotton canvas to make it surprisingly look and feel like leather and is biodegradable.

The rest of the shoe aims to be environmentally friendly as well, the lining is made of a jersey blend, 33% organic cotton and 67% recycled bottles. Their soles continue the trend by being made with wild rubber from the Amazon forest, sourced directly in Brazil, also where the shoes are made.

Hundred Pieces, the in-house kid’s brand from Smallable is known for their bright colors and fun designs, so it’s no surprise the shoe collaboration is a bold color combo. Even the laces are bright red, think Punky Brewster straight from the 80’s. The back shoe tabs share a message, ‘A Piece of Cool’. The shoes are available in size 28EU - 39EU exclusively at Smallable for $103.
