Hanna Andersson Launches New Resale Marketplace, Hannah-Me-Downs
Great news for fans of Hanna Andersson’s cozy GOTS certified organic clothing, the Swedish brand just launched a new preloved marketplace, Hanna-Me-Downs, where you can buy and sell preloved Hannas. We took a closer look at their marketplace and wanted to share our thoughts on why we think it’s the best place to buy secondhand from this brand.
There’s so much to love about this initiative, but let’s start with the technical aspects of this, because it’s done really well. It has the same function and interface as their full retail website, which makes it very easy if you’re already familiar with buying the brand. More than half the listed items use the original retail image photos and the seller photos. When you you enter items you want to sell (more on that later), Hanna Andersson does a search by item number or description to pull the item from its archive and automatically loads the pictures, description and material info from the original retail item.
This is so smart, first, you get the benefit of seeing the original item shot professionally, second, it gives you comparison photos with the sellers to understand the exact condition the actual item you’d be purchasing. When I buy secondhand, (unless the seller photos are excellent and super thorough) I usually google the item I’m interested in so I can try and see true color, texture of material, material/fit description. Here, Hanna Andersson has done this for you.

Now our favorite part is that they group all options for a specific item under a main listing. As an example, their Organic Long John Pajamas in Pony Pals. There is only one main listing for this item that you can find by searching all or filtering by size. Once you click on it you’ll be able to see all current listings it in that style, in this example, size 12-18m, 2y, 5y and 12y. You can even select to be notified when a size of a particular item becomes available.
Within this one listing, you can easily toggle through the different sellers/sizes and the specific item information will update with photos and condition for that item. Looking closer at size 5, there are 2 sellers, both selling in moderately worn condition. In this case, you can directly compare the condition of the options and choose which is the best for you with a simple click. Sellers even have an opportunity to add a note and photo to condition that is avail in a little pop up. Well. Done. Hanna Andersson.
Worth mentioning here that all sales are peer-to-peer, meaning they ship directly from the seller, only using Hanna-Me-Downs as a selling platform. As with most peer-to-peer marketplaces, your purchase is final sale, unless the seller has misrepresented the item.
Now, for the sellers. This platform is so easy to use. Because they will automatically add the original item photos and descriptions to your listing, you save so much time. If you’re adding the listing on a computer, there’s even a QR code you can scan with your phone if you want to add the photos directly from there. The prompts they give you about the general wear of the item and condition report are equally simple. Ease of use is very satisfying. Buyers can also click directly from an item’s listing to see all items you have available, providing you with a mini seller store.
They also give sellers 125% of the selling price if they choose store credit. They’ll give you 70% of the listing if you choose a cash payment instead. You are responsible to ship the item yourself, but Hanna Andersson will send you a prepaid USPS shipping label via email after your item is sold. If you’re like us and you usually buy the next size up once your child outgrows their Hanna pajamas, the store credit selling is such a great deal. Notable however is that you can’t use your store credit on the preloved marketplace, the store credit is only good for purchase on new Hanna Andersson items. Not a deal breaker, but hopefully they’re able to offer it as an option in the future to maximize the sustainability.
