My first piece from this brand was a preloved romper, 6-12m, handed down from a friend. I loved it so much I bought the next size up. We were able to wear it for almost a year and then handed it down to another friend. Full circle. We love that they are a completely organic brand, use low impact dye and are made in Los Angeles. We’ve owned and worn almost all materials and styles they make, the aforementioned Jersey Long Romper and pants in organic terry, organic jersey, organic cotton and their hemp blend. The Trousers with Pocket are a favorite and year round staple for us. We’ve also owned tees and tanks in jersey, cotton and cotton gauze and even a french terry sweatshirt.

The clothing is well made and simply finished. Seams are clean and concise, stitching is tonal and buttons are well secured. Pieces with raw edge hems lay flat and don’t roll too much. Fabrics are excellent quality, super soft and unlined. It’s worth mentioning that some of the fabrics and styles are better suited to a mild climate. Pants like the jersey harem, woven pocket pant and lawn pant are offered year round but made with lighter weight materials and need to be layered in cold weather. Most of the organic cotton and french terry is thick with a nice soft finish inside. None of the materials we’ve worn were prone to wrinkles.

We have consistently loved everything we’ve owned and have been impressed with how it’s worn. Stains come out easily and we’ve experienced very little fading or shrinkage. We do wash on gentle, with eco-friendly detergent. We usually give our clothes a quick dry on gentle and then hang dry for the remainder. Typically we can get the full age range listed for the sizing, plus a little more extended on one end.

Most originally purchase this brand because of the cool minimalist design and earthy colors. Most end up loving this brand because they also use quality organic cotton and it wears really well. Among the Mamas we surveyed, Go Gently Nation comes up a lot and is universally praised as a favorite. We feel confident to recommend it as a brand we love.

SIZING & FIT

This brand gets a Meer Mama rating of ‘True to Size’. All Mamas surveyed agree this brand runs true to size, with room to grow. In pants they have two consistent silhouettes, either a drop crotch with narrow ankles or a wider leg and both styles lend themselves to longer wear. The narrower ankle means your kids can wear them early and they’ll stay on and not have to worry about the material dragging down over feet. The wider leg styles also have an elastic waist, so can be worn longer to the floor (or rolled) or as a culotte as your child grows. Most of the tops for boys have a straight fit and are long enough for extended wear. A lot of the tops for girls tend to be roomier by design and flexible in age depending on your preferred fit. Some of the dresses can even be worn as tops in the long term. We recommend buying true to size and if in between sizes, getting the next size up for longer wear.

DOES IT LAST

This brand gets a Meer Mama rating of ‘Great, definitely gets passed down’. All Mamas surveyed agree this brand wears very well. There have been a few notes made about fading or wear in the knees, but all Mamas noted excessive use in the knee area at the time, mostly with crawling and not universally. There haven’t been any complaints about material fading, pilling, or losing softness or shape. Stains come out easily with minimal treatment. Lighter and darker colors perform similarly.
