This is one we get asked about a lot, mostly parents wanting to know if the higher prices and launch headaches are worth it. Fortunately tons of Meer Mamas passionately sent in feedback and we can answer resoundingly yes, they definitely think it is worth it. Collectively, we’ve worn a lot of knitwear from this brand, bottoms and tops in both merino wool and cotton. We’ve also worn a lot of basics in organic pima cotton.
The clothing is extremely well made and cleanly finished. As the pieces are handmade, there are natural variations in some styles and colors. M&P are very good about noting changes to specific styles from season to season and usually do great color comps as well. The merino wool is especially high quality, super soft and wears well. Although popcorn sweaters, skating skirts and other knitwear are the most recommended by Mamas, the organic pima cotton basics, especially leggings, turtlenecks and tops are also well loved. Typically we can wear for full age range listed for the sizing, plus a little more extended on one end.
The chief complaint with this brand is the demand exceeding quantities for popular styles each season. There can sometimes be extreme frustration with planning purchases and everything being sold out too quickly. Since M&P is committed to slow growth and not stressing their supply chain, it is unlikely this will change in the near future. However, every season they continue to implement systems to help make the process easier and are completely transparent about it. Go into each launch with realistic expectations.
This is a truly loved brand by many who consider it to be of heirloom quality. We love that they’re handmade in Peru with Fair Trade artisans, responsibly sourced materials, low impact dyes and an aversion to overproduction. Among the Mamas we surveyed, Misha & Puff comes up as a top recommendation for knitwear and is in many Mamas top 3 brands they buy every season. We feel confident to recommend it as a brand we love.
SIZING & FIT
This brand gets a Meer Mama rating of ‘Runs Small’. Mamas surveyed agree this brand runs mostly small or true to size. Sizing can be a bit variable from style to style, but is usually accurate for the age range and they do post measurements for each item. Prior to launch they do video walkthroughs on instagram to give specific information about how styles fit that season and differ from previous. We do find the wool pieces to run smaller than the cotton and unanimously agree to size up with popcorn sweaters. Unless you want a snugger fit, we recommend buying one size up for longer wear.
DOES IT LAST
This brand gets a Meer Mama rating of ‘Great, definitely gets passed down’. All Mamas surveyed agree this brand wears very well, with many even saying the merino wool looks like new when they’re ready to size up. There have been a few notes made about fading and general wear in some of the cotton knitwear, but not universally. There haven’t been any complaints about merino wool or pima cotton fading, pilling, or losing softness or shape. Stains come out easily with gentle treatment. Lighter and darker colors perform similarly.
