Minikane x Smallable collaboration

Minikane x Smallable have joined forces for the second year in a row on a collaboration that is both Greenable and charitable. Just in time for Christmas, they are releasing a limited edition collection of Minikane’s classic baby dolls dressed in upcycled fabrics from 21 designer brands from Smallable’s line up, including Oeuf, Poudre Organic and The New Society. The brands have each donated fabric remnants, giving the offcuts a second life and contributing to a great cause.

The sustainable collection will be released on World Children’s Day, November 20, exclusively on the Smallable website. For each doll sold, 10% of profits will be donated to Un Enfant par la Main. The French charity works to provide lasting support to underprivileged children through child sponsorship and community projects aimed at improving education, health and nutrition across the globe.

Here’s more information on the 3 different initiatives the donations will go towards:

1. IN ETHIOPIA: NEWBORN KITS FOR MOTHERS

Mothers will receive a kit equipped with all the necessary items for taking care of their newborn babies, including items such as hygiene products and clothes.

2. IN HAITI: SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Children will receive kits containing essential school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, rulers, coloured pencils and compasses. In Haiti, almost 15% of children do not attend primary school because their parents cannot afford to buy school supplies.

3. IN INDIA: BICYCLES FOR SCHOOL COMMUTES

These bicycles will allow young students to commute to school freely, reducing their travel time and improving their educational outcomes. In India, universities are often located more than 3 km away from most students’ homes. 70% of bicycles from this initiative will go to young girls, who will no longer be forced to drop out of higher education because of long-distance commutes.
