When you walk in to one of the two retail Kodomo shops in Boston, it feels more like a modern European shop than a typical American children’s boutique. That’s partly because the owner, Jasmine Punzalan, carries mostly European brands, anchored by the bold and playful prints and colors from Bobo Choses, Mini Rodini and The Animals Observatory. There’s an inexplainable cool kid vibe in the shop, where NUNUNU is a best seller and you’ll find a sophisticated aesthetic. She also has the minimalists covered too, with quality basics from Gray Label and MarMar Copenhagen. Besides high-end sustainably minded brands for newborns through age 16, there’s well curated accessories, toys and gifts. In addition to the retail shops, the full offering is on an easy to navigate website that is truly a pleasure to browse, not just for the product, but the editorial content. Kodomo also produces a high-fashion seasonal look book that makes me feel like Jasmine has a second calling as a creative director.
