The founder, Estefania Grandio, is a 15 year fashion veteran and the influence plays in to not only her design choices but sustainable practices the company has priorities since inception. They use mostly eco-friendly and natural materials, including organic cotton, linen and recycled materials. They began using botanic dyes in fall 2020 and prioritize reduced water consumption in production. All materials are sourced locally in Portugal. Production is also done locally in Portugal and Spain at small factories with GOTS certification.
They have a circular fashion program, Second Life, where their clothing can be returned to be upcycled. There’s also a small Repurposed Fabric collection that makes brand bestsellers using past season fabrics. They collaborate on special projects to recycle smaller fabric scraps, including creating dolls. All packaging is recyclable or biodegradable and they use recycled paper for marketing materials. The New Society answered all our questions about company practices and were easy to reach for follow up.
