KidWild
UPDATE: KidWild closed in late 2023 and will launch a new brand, Finch&Fable, in 2024.
KidWild is an organic brand that finds a happy balance between minimalist basics and thoughtful design. They have a full range of year round essentials and seasonal collections, for babies through 5 years of age. Founded by Aafke Eggens, they originally launched in 2015 with a bedding and sleep selection. Clothing followed in 2017 and includes apparel, layette and accessories with a modern vibe.
At its core, KidWild is a line of timeless basics in ultra soft organic fabrics. What sets the brand apart from others is the neutral earthy palette and cool factor in some of the designs. Their signature drawstring pant and rompers feature a drop crotch and tapered leg. Their baby essentials are offered in black and white and a garment dyed vintage wash with coconut buttons. Most of the collection is unisex.

"We thoroughly embrace the slow fashion movement. By producing high quality, long lasting and timeless garments our products can be worn and loved from one child to the next and carried on from generation to generation thereby increasing its life span and minimizing its carbon footprint." - Founder, Aafke Eggens

THE PRODUCT
They use all eco-friendly materials. The main material used is GOTS certified organic cotton, with 5% elastane. Their two signature fabrics are a soft jersey and a ribbed cotton. Seasonally they usually offer an organic cotton gauze and organic terry, both GOTS certified. The swim is made from REPREVE®.Fabrics are sourced locally and collections are garment dyed with low-impact dyes.
MATERIALS
"We love working with GOTS certified organic brushed jerseys for their softness and forgiveness (usually we add a small percentage of elastane for easier dressing!). All our fabrics are GOTS or Oeko-Tex certified as this is a standard we have set for our brand. Swim is really soft this year, made from repreve (recycled plastic bottles)."
DYE PROCESS
"We use water based AZO free dyes that can be broken down after the dyeing process and are much safer and gentler for the environment and for people."
ORIGIN
They source all their fabrics locally. Both manufacturers in Portugal and Turkey source from local GOTS certified mills. India sources from local organic cotton mills.
THE PEOPLE
They monitor all parts of their supply chain. Production is in India, Portugal, and Turkey. All factories are GOTS certified, meaning they comply with standards set by the International Labour Organization (ILO), to ensure safe working environments and fair pay. The factories located in Europe also have to comply with EU standards.
SUPPLY CHAIN OVERSIGHT
They visit their suppliers on a yearly basis. GOTS certification also ensures facilities have annual inspections.
LABOR
"We only work with GOTS certified suppliers to ensure our products meet all criteria and all resources and people in the process are treated fairly."
SOCIAL
We don’t have information about Kidwild social responsibility or partnerships with charity organizations.
THE PLANET
GOTS certified facilities have to comply with strict environmental criteria, including minimzing water consumption and waste management.
They use eco-friendly packaging and either recycled or recyclable materials for all shipments. They do use polybags for individual items, but they are 100% compostable.
UPCYCLING & RECYCLING
"We aim to only produce what we use. Very seldom we have excess stock which we will use in consecutive collections or develop a product that uses the scrap material (such as the baby booties) to minimize waste."
PACKAGING
"All our items are packed in 100% compostable bags! Something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time and so happy we were able to make it happen with this collection. As a small company we strongly believe that reducing the environmental footprint starts with ourselves, however small we think our contribution is. We encourage to be mindful of what we use and how we (re-)use it. Making small changes can make a big difference."
