The founder designed womenswear before Phil&Phae and there are small influences of this background throughout, elevating these timeless basics. Their conscious decisions include a palette and quality styles that transition seasonally. They use all eco-friendly materials, using only GOTS organic cotton in their essential and seasonal collections. All fabrics and trimmings are OEKO-TEX certified. Their dye process is to OEKO-TEX and REACH standards, containing no harmful chemicals. Their materials are all locally grown and sourced within Europe. Since production is within Europe, they are able to monitor regualry. All factories are either GOTS certified or small family run businesses with ethical standards.
Their year-round essentials collection reduces overstock and fabric scraps are upcycled into accessories and part of the newborn collection. They also have an online charity sale with overstock to raise funds for Soladaridad, a charity focused on sustainable production in third world countries. For shipping materials they use unbleached kraft paper boxes and an ecotape. They do use individual polybags on items. They minimize paper use in the office and use FSC certified paper for marketing materials. Phil&Phae answered all our questions about company practices and were easy to reach for follow up.
